CBIR with Perceptual Region Features

چکیده
A perceptual approach to generating features for use in indexing and retrieving images is described. Salient regions that immediately attract the eye are colour (textured) regions that usually dominate an image. Features derived from these will allow search for images that are similar perceptually. We compute colour features and Gabor colour texture features on regions identified from a coarse representation of the image, generated by a multiband smoothing algorithm based on human psychophysical measurements of colour appearance. Images are retrieved, using a multi-feedback retrieval and ranking mechanism. We examine the performance of the features and the feedback mechanism.

Region-Based Image Retrieval with Perceptual Colors
Due to the ‘semantic gap’ between low-level visual features and the rich semantics in user’s mind, performance of traditional contentbased image retrieval systems is far from user’s expectation. In attempt to reduce the ‘semantic gap’, this paper introduces a region-based image retrieval system with high-level semantic color names used. For each segmented region, we define a perceptual color as...
متن کاملImage Retrieval Based on Region of Interest
Content Based Image Retrieval (CBIR) is browsing, searching and navigation of images from large image databases based on their visual content. CBIR has been an active area of research for more than a decade. Many CBIR systems have been developed; like QBIC [Flickner et al. (1995)], Simplicity [Wang et al. (2001)], and Blob world [Carson et al.(2002)]. A detailed survey of CBIR techniques can be...
متن کاملSemantic Image Retrieval Using Multiple Features
In Content Based Image Retrieval (CBIR) some problem such as recognizing the similar images, the need for databases, the semantic gap, and retrieving the desired images from huge collections are the keys to improve. CBIR system analyzes the image content for indexing, management, extraction and retrieval via low-level features such as color, texture and shape. To achieve higher semantic perform...
متن کاملExploring the relationship between feature and perceptual visual spaces
visual information (images or videos) is increasing and thereby demanding appropriate ways to represent and search these information spaces. Their visualization often relies on reducing the dimensions of the information space to create a lower-dimensional feature space which, from the point-of-view of the end user, will be viewed and interpreted as a perceptual space. Critically for information...
متن کاملA Novel Method for Content Base Image Retrieval Using Combination of Local and Global Features
Content-based image retrieval (CBIR) has been an active research topic in the last decade. In this paper we proposed an image retrieval method using global and local features. Firstly, for local features extraction, SURF algorithm produces a set of interest points for each image and a set of 64-dimensional descriptors for each interest points and then to use Bag of Visual Words model, a cluster...
